REVIEW USSpurgeon William Clark III, MD is a 5th generation Waycrossan. After graduating from Waycross High School, he attended Davidson College, where he graduated cum laude in 1975. He studied all aspects of medicine at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta and earned the Doctor of Medicine degree in 1979.
Following his graduation, Dr. Clark completed a rotating internship at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk in 1980 and pursued residency training in ophthalmology at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami from 1980-1983. He then completed a fellowship at the Emory Eye Center in Atlanta, where he now serves as an Adjunct Professor of Ophthalmology.
Dr. William joined his father at the Clark Eye Clinic in 1984. He specializes in cataract-related procedures and the treatment of complex medical eye conditions. He has a keen interest in helping patients sort through complicated visual challenges and enjoys taking the time to listen carefully and examine thoroughly, before making recommendations for next steps.
Throughout his career, Dr. Clark has been affiliated with our local hospital in Waycross, now Memorial Satilla Health. In 2018, on the occasion of his 20,000th eye surgical procedure there, the hospital named the Operating Room in which he does surgery for him with a plaque that hangs proudly outside the doors. Since that time, he has performed thousands more procedures.
Dr. Clark’s extensive training and decades of experience have established him as a highly regarded ophthalmologist in the Waycross community.
